well as i see it, art is as beauty in the eye of the beholder, i consider a lot of contemporary art as pseudo-intellectual boring half-baked lazy attempts at art, well not all of it, but a lot of it, and i’ve been to pretty much all the best museums (in new york, london, paris, rome, …), but you shouldn’t take what i say as truth, just as my interpretation of my reality, so to put it bluntly, the human body is to me a thing of beauty and as such a form of art, and my view is shared with artist since well… since humans started painting, for me there is no differentiation between a woman a man, a baby or a old woman, its all the same and there is beauty in all, so for me any and all forms of expression, molding or showing side of that, tends to fall into an art form.

of course anime/manga/japanese comics fall into that, i also consider painting and story telling to be some of the most enticing art forms (anime and movies too, but comics lets you experience the story at your own pace, you have the time to reflect on the subjects and appreciate the art), and the way that manga combines visual stories with a range of genres as deep as literature with such imagination and creativity, both in painting and story that has little equal around the world (some graphical novels and comics from america and europe are also as good, but lets keep it in topic), so thats why i consider manga an art.

now love for kids, well that’s when the ink thickens, historically speaking this averse to nakedness and little boys and girls is a pretty recent affair in human history, for the most part and even today, there wasn’t any problem with it, it was common for older man to marry or have sex or make concubine or to just have some fun with pre-teen girls (and it still is in a lot of the world), the same way it was normal to have sex orgies and vomit session and sex with little boys in ancient rome as well in ancient greece, in the dark ages, in the iron ages, in the bronze ages… so we can say to some certain degree that its not something new and for most of our history it was not only accepted but normal, i point this out just to re-inforce all this attacks on nature of pedophilia as

nowadays its a bit different, and i would separate into 3 parts:

1) the age limits, well most likely derived from culture and all the rights of passage, it was decided that a person would become a adult at the age of 18 (or 21 or 16 in some countries or even 12 or 14 on another countries or depending on circumstances), well in one thing we can agree, that for a part of a child’s development it still lacks the ability both mentally and physically to be an adult, that is to have all the faculties of an adult, differentiating right from wrong, having the experience to understand what is happening, to sum it up they aren’t an adult and as such i understand and expect them to be protected, but i have 2 gripes with this, first its the 18 years, its mostly a random number that has no real basis on reality, a 14 year old might be for most part (there will still be a lack of experience) an adult, the second is that because of the age limits they created all of this artificial limits to anyone above and bellow that limit, just because they have that limit (examples are: drinking alcohol, playing games, driving cars, smoking, …), seems to me to be a bit narrow minded and separated from reality.

2) the bad people, there are always bad people, there will always be jackasses and fucking idiots, there will always be raping and killing and bad people doing bad things, to people that abuse children (i remind you that most of the times its their own parents), will always happen, of course as society develops and gets more educated and improves there will be less bad people, that is a fact, but there will always be some inbreed fucks that fuck stuff up, as well as, and this is a big point, just cause there are drunks that kill and coke heads that steal and dads that likes loli manga that sodomize their children, doesn’t mean we should criminalize alcohol, drugs or loli ^_^ that is the sense that the precursor of the crime is to blame for the crime, that is that alcohol, drugs or loli are to blame for the crime of the people, for every 1 bad person that reads loli there are a million of good people that read it.

3) the media/politics, yes in the middle ages the rape statistics were much much lower than nowadays?, yeah fucking right, actually nowadays at least in modern or modernizing countries, crime is not so widespread, sure there are always problems, but statistically speaking it has a tendency to go lower and lower as the country becomes more developed, one would expect from the media that the united states of america would be up there as the country with most murders (per capita), its actually not even in the top 50 for 2009 (the top 3 are colombia, south africa and jamaica), but since the american media is so focus on entertainment and less on real news, it looks like the country is always surrounded with murderers, rapers, junkies and “pedomaniacs”, of course since that is such an apparent widespread of violence, that it looks good for politicians to force idiotic laws just to look good, who in the hell is going to vote against a law to punish murderers or pedophiles, it just doesn’t look good on a politician resume, its all shit built on top of shit, instead of thinking about it and bringing in experts on the subject, basically politicians just make shit up as they go along.

So to sum it up, that’s why there is this push against lolit, in my personal view a child should always be protected, especially by their parents, any and all abuse to children should be criminalized, since they cant protect themselves both physically and mentally, however the boundary of what is a child is not that linear (two 16 year old in love is fine, but a 30 year old with a 16 year old is pedophilia, that’s just silly), besides that, if no children is ever in danger or explored (yes that also means naked pictures of children), i dont see what is wrong, so loli as a whole and even the more aggressive kinds (toddlercon, guro loli, that i’m not such a big fan) are as creative and masterful as all those paintings of naked baby jesus and naked angels in churches (and those are accurate representations of naked children), to me its all art and its all good.
